Different GSM Frequency Band

At starting mobile phone uses were depended on CDMA (Collision Detect Multiple Access). This is technology in which a particular frequency is given to mobile phone on which it can work. Mobile phone user was limited with same mobile network provider.
With CDMA, there was also limitation related to lots of subscribers which increased to maximum collision among users connection. Moreover, there was limitation related to country region.
So, overcome on limitation allow to create to GSM standard. GSM stands for Global System For Mobile Communication, which works on cellular frequencies designed by ITU for mobile phones. Under GSM frequency, there are fourteen frequency bands defined in 3GPP.
Among frequency bands, GSM 900, GSM 1800 are used most part of world in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Oceania and most of Asia. Some part of America use GSM 850 band and 1900 band also. With worldwide acceptable GSM 900, is also extended and called E-GSM. Extended GSM covers more cover frequency range with 880-915 uplink and 925-960 downlink, adding 50 channels.
Mobile phones described having EGSM or EGSM900 supports to both mobile network. Older phones do not support to EGSM, but newer phones support to both.
Beside GSM 1900, GSM 450 is supported at begin under 1st generation. This technology used in countries in Russia, Europe, Benelux and Nordic countries.
