According to Hot Telecom, Ecuador is one of latest developed telecom market in South America. At the end of 2009, Ecuador has 2.0 million subscribers with 14.2% penetration rate which is expected to 19% till 2010 end.
Ecuador has growth rate of 32.5% between 2005 and 2009 in telecom sector comparing. It was second highest growth rate after broadband. Government expects to have slow single digit growth rate of 8.0% with penetration rate of 96.5%.
Ecuador was lagging behind in Internet services. Its penetration rate of 2.4% with only 17,000 subscribers in 2009 was there. It was 3,37,000 of Internet users and expected to reach 1.8 million at end of year. Still growth rate is considered low, and PC penetration rate is also not much good expected in few months.
With 97.5% growth rate, Ecuador has been raising exponentially over last 5 years. Alone in 2009, it has broadband customers increased by 89.1%% growth rate and reached to 2, 95,000 with penetration rate of 2.1% which was represented to 87.5%.
